Set Up - Step 1: Creating categories for menu items

The purpose of categories within the menu is to group related products so that they can be easily accessible. You can colour coordinate categories to further improve aesthetics and organization. Menu categories can either be done all at once or you can set up the menu list category by category as you’re creating it. We recommend creating all the categories at the beginning and then if you get something wrong you can always adjust it later.

To create a category firstly log into your Nōwn app and select "Products" on the right hand side of the home page. 

Select the "Create a Category" box on the right of the screen. 

Insert the category name and a category description. You can also change the categories colour by selecting the coloured circle in category name. 

You can activate or deactivate the category by turning the toggle on or off. An active category will show up for the cashier whereas a deactivated category will not.

Pro tip: you can also separate items by page. When you’re in the Product tab, you will see an option on the right hand side to “Rename this Page”, you can then customize each page to have whichever name you like. To move an item to a different page just drag it to page you want it on.
